Our Legacy
Fine Home Furniture is a proud second-generation family business, and our roots reach back to 1964. At that time, brothers John and Don Vondrashek began their careers at Texas Giant Furniture, where they worked for Marty Goldstein. There, they helped manage stores across Texas, Arkansas, and Georgia. As the years passed, both brothers went on to launch their own successful furniture businesses.
From 1987 to 2019, Don owned several stores. Specifically, his businesses included Furniture Discounters in Carrollton and I-30 Mattress Outlet in Mt. Vernon, Texas. Meanwhile, John operated multiple stores and a mattress factory from 1972 to 2004. For example, his ventures included Century Model Homes, Vons Bedquarters, Mid City Furniture, and Furniture Discounters Irving. As a result, these stores served customers throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
Today, John’s son, John Vondrashek Jr., proudly continues the family tradition through Fine Home Furniture. Because he grew up in the business, he worked closely with his father and uncle while pursuing his education. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1991. That same year, he opened his first furniture store in Dallas. Since then, he has launched several successful stores, including Furniture Discounters Dallas, Irving Boulevard Furniture, and Furniture Basics. Therefore, he continues the family legacy into 2025 and beyond.
